Bastar Dussehra is one of the most popular festival of this region.The Goncha festival is a Chariot festival for Lord Jagannath. It is celebrated on second day in bright fortnight of Ashad month. The different Chariot are made for Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Subhadra.Haryali amavasya is celebrated in dark night of July. The festival marks the starting of sowing of seed.Farmers worships their family god and goddess and ask them for a good agricultural production. Aama tihar – it is celebrated in the month of April–May, though the date is not fixed. On this day people offer mangoes to their deity, before which no one is allowed to eat mangoes in Bastar. Madai Festival is the local festival celebrated by the tribes of Kanker and Bastar regions to honour their local goddess goddess Kesharpal Kesharpalin Devi.
